About ERP Model

There are many things about the ERP system or Enterprise Resource Planning that can be discussed, one of them is the ERP model. ERP model is the reverse engineer process of the system software in order to adjust it to the structure of an organization or a company. Even though ERP modeling is possible to be done by some methods, this entry is related to ERP modeling by using the Object Process Methodology, or also known as OPM. Object-Process Methodology seems to be the methods that is able to be used for modeling the ERP system knowledge. It is because this Object-Process Methodology concentrates on the optionality within the process and objects of the ERP system software.

ERP model is performed by analyzing the optionality in the ERP system in order to identify various system functions which are needed by users or companies. Reverse engineer processing both the structure of an organization and the ERP system to the same level of granularity makes those 2 layers compatible for adjusting the set in a company or organization. The ERP system breaks down the traditional functional complications by facilitating information flows, data sharing, and also the introduction of general business practices among all users of the organization. A global business process model is made that represent the entire ERP system. This global business process model is layered in 3 levels:
  1. The first level is called the level of configuration system. It includes optionality on a high level on the whole system. This is why the option definition is not dynamic. Once an option on a high level of the ERP system is picked to be used in an organization or company, the option is not be able to be canceled.
  2. The second level is the object level. It includes single data objects. Which on this level, the optionality is not as static as the first level.
  3. The third and deepest level is called the level of occurrence. This level analyzes the occurrences of the single process. It is because this level breaks down the parameter of objects . The optionality on this level is really dynamic. It means that the options or choices made are able to be changed easily.
The leveling of optionality is as a tool to reverse the engineer, the ERP system as well as the structure of an organization entirely. Once it is mapped properly, those 2 aspects are entirely able to be aligned or at least compatible to be adjusted. The right way to adjust both models of the ERP system and organization is:
  1. Converting the database of the ERP system to one object model.
  2. Building the global business process model.
  3. Identifying the alternatives of business processes on the configuration level system.
  4. Identifying the variants of business processes on the object level.
  5. Exposing the options of business processes of the occurrence level.
Those are the ERP modeling that you might wish to know. The ERP system itself is a set of software that can help you to take care of the operational activities of your business automatically. So, by using this system, you will be able to reduce some costs
