Stages of ERP Implementation Life Cycle

ERP or Enterprise Resource Planning is a software that can help company owners to manage and integrate operational activities in their business.   • Scope and Commitment Stage
The first step in developing the scope in ERP implementation is by seeing the needs of resources and times. The characteristics of ERP that will be implemented will be determined in this stage. The things that must be determined in this stage are the composition and structure of the implementation team, the role of external consultants, roles of internal employees and subject matter experts who will give directions to determine good interface and business rules, and making ERP implementation and reports.
  • Analysis and Design Stage
In order to analyze the needs of ERP users, the team should make decisions the needed software based on the results from the discussion and consultation with subject matter experts. In this stage, the implementation team should determine the gap analysis of ERP software in the long run, whether the ERP system must be adapted to existing business processes or existing business processes adjusted to the ERP system that will be implemented. With the gap analysis, the team has to develop a design that includes the change management plan, user interface screen, registration process of the company, and reports that will be used for the implementation. At this stage, the team should also manage the conversion data, conversion system, and training to the users.
  • Acquisition and Development Stage
The organization must give a license to the software users. All of the platforms that will be used should be configured with hardware, software, security, network, database, and real production data. When the technical team is installing, the change management team works together with the end users to do some adjustments with the existing business processes and do data migration that can be used by the company.
  • Implementation Stage
This stage focuses on implementing the system to end users and monitoring whether the system can be used by the users or not. At this stage, the implementation team also monitors whether the system is an error or not.
  • Operation Stage
At this stage, the implementation team gives knowledge to the users about using the system by providing help desk and support staff and training the users. The team will also listen to the users’ feedback in order to know whether the ERP system is already suitable for their needs and wishes or not.
